In the summer of 2004 Fox Lake singed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with Manitoba Hydro, and the province
of Manitoba on participation in the proposed Conawapa
Generating Station, which would be located on the Nelson
River in Fox Lake's Traditional Terrritory.
The MOU acknowledged that Fox Lake would have a unique,
leading, and significant role in the process of developing
Conawapa stated that Fox Lake may name representatives to
the Conawapa Working Group (CWG). The CWG has a mandate to
consider how Fox Lake might participate in the development,
operation and maintenance of the Conawapa Project, and to
identify employment, training, and business opportunities
for Fox Lake related to the Conawapa Project.
Through the CWG, FLCN is negotiating with Manitoba Hydro
and the province of Manitoba on participation in the
proposed Conawapa Generating Station, which would be
located on the Nelson River in Fox Lake's Traditional
Territory.
The CWG has been meeting with Hydro, and the province of
Manitoba. Fox Lake's CWG representatives are Amelia Bone,
Ivan Moose,Sophie Lockhart, and Lloyd Kirkness.
