In the summer of 2004 Fox Lake singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Manitoba Hydro, and the province of Manitoba on participation in the proposed Conawapa Generating Station, which would be located on the Nelson River in Fox Lake's Traditional Terrritory.

The MOU acknowledged that Fox Lake would have a unique, leading, and significant role in the process of developing Conawapa stated that Fox Lake may name representatives to the Conawapa Working Group (CWG). The CWG has a mandate to consider how Fox Lake might participate in the development, operation and maintenance of the Conawapa Project, and to identify employment, training, and business opportunities for Fox Lake related to the Conawapa Project.

Through the CWG, FLCN is negotiating with Manitoba Hydro and the province of Manitoba on participation in the proposed Conawapa Generating Station, which would be located on the Nelson River in Fox Lake's Traditional Territory.

The CWG has been meeting with Hydro, and the province of Manitoba. Fox Lake's CWG representatives are Amelia Bone, Ivan Moose,Sophie Lockhart, and Lloyd Kirkness.
