The northern part of Manitoba is experiencing warm dry weather. Showers are forecasted for much of Manitoba. One new fire was detected yesterday and was successfully brought under control. Suppression efforts are progressing well on all fires.

A total of 350 fires have occurred so far this season burning a total of 94,862 hectares. This is in comparison to the twenty year average of 320 fires and 289,530 hectares as of this date. Of the 350 fires, 224 were human caused and 126 were started by lightning.

Open fires are prohibited from April 1 to November 15 annually, except under a burning permit or in an enclosed approved fire pit.
